“Act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God.”
— Micah 6:8
The Live Simply Award is an opportunity for Catholic communities – parishes, schools, religious orders and chaplaincies – to respond to Pope Francis’ invitation in Laudato Si’ to “work with generosity and tenderness in protecting this world which God has entrusted to us”.
As a school community we are on a journey with Christ towards the Live Simply Award.
Why is this important to us?
Rooted in Catholic Social Teaching and inspired by Pope Francis’ call in Laudato Si’ to care for our common home, the LiveSimply award supports our mission to live out the Gospel in real and practical ways. As a school, we aim to grow compassionate citizens who understand their role in building a fairer, kinder world.
Our three aims are to:
- Live simply, making choices that avoid waste and value people over possessions
- Live in solidarity with people in poverty, standing with and supporting those who are poor or vulnerable
- Live sustainably with creation.caring for God’s creation and protecting the environment
How are we doing it?
We have launched a variety of whole-school initiatives to support this mission, including:
💡 Student-led action through our Eco Council, School Council, and Rights Respecting Schools team
🌱 Eco projects to reduce waste, recycle more, and promote biodiversity
🕊️ Prayer and reflection on global justice and caring for creation
🤝 Charity work and outreach, supporting CAFOD, local food banks, and global appeals
👣 Curriculum links in RE, Science, Geography, and PSHE that explore stewardship, fairness, and justice
