Today we practised our gymnastic shapes by mirroring with a partner. We tried hard to ensure that each shape demonstrated straight lines.

Science week at St Clare’s!

This week in Year 3, we have taken part in various science experiments. We started with Get Set Jellies and then moved on to Friction fun. Jelly sets over time but we found out that different methods for preparing the jelly, can slow the process down. We used, peaches, mangos and pineapples as our additional foods in the jelly. We then took part in a friction experiment using long grain rice, a pencil and a water bottle. The aim was to see whether the bottle filled with rice could be lifted off the surface area by just holding the pencil. We were amazed at the outcomes and thoroughly enjoyed our experiments!

Cash for kids walk in Year 3! Today we walked around our school perimeter three times and altogether walked a massive 20,000 steps! Well done Year 3 ?

English Year 3. We have been hot seating and taking on the role of the magpie and the fox from our story. We have focused on feelings and trust throughout. Everyone tried so hard with this and gave some amazing answers, well done Year 3!

Year 3 have been designing and creating money boxes in DT. We have had so much fun planning, designing and learning the process to lead up to finally making our final product! We finished with evaluating our product.

Year 3 had a visit from My Bnk today showing us lots of different ways to be able to save money, different money habits and the bank accounts that are available to us. We now have lots of different top tips to take away with us!

Forest school- Year 3

Music Concert

Today Year 3 and 4 took part in a music concert, they showed their talents playing the ukele and the trumpets.

Sports afternoon!

Year 3 took part in three different races today, running, egg and spoon and finally a sack race! We had so much fun, well done everybody!

Colour run!

We all took part in a colour run to raise money for CAFOD. We had so much fun!

Year 3 Art

In art this week we have been looking at the artist Sarah Sedwick. We have collected different fruit and cutlery to make a similar piece of still art work.

Year 3 music lesson.

Year 3 started their music lesson by just using the mouth piece from their instrument, to create different syllables and follow different beats!

Maths day!

For Maths day in Year 3, we worked in small groups and one child was blindfolded, the child who was blindfolded was challenged to create a variety of 2D shapes from squares to pentagons, using rope. This was a new challenge but we worked so well in our groups and managed to make lots of different 2D shapes. Well done Year 3!

Forest School- Year 3

PSHE. We have been looking at different types of bullying. We had a whole class discussion and then the children showed this in small groups.

Aspire week. We were extremely lucky to have a visit from the Fire service!

Meet a Judge Visit

Members of Junior leadership team, School Council & Rights Respecting ambassadors attended a visit to the Liverpool Civil and Family Court to take part in a mock robbery trail. They were all given roles to play and even took part in a question and answer session with 3 serving judges from the Crown, Family and Employment courts. 

Year 3 enjoyed eating their porridge and learning about the valuable work carried out by Mary’s meals.

Year 3 took part in a wonderful Harvest trail across different areas of our school site.

Year 3 had a wonderful maths party day. They took on a number of very creative maths tasks.

Year 3 took part in a creation walk for RE. We talked about natural beauty and linked all of these things to the Creation story.

Year 3 made pledges to make a difference and to make our world a nice place to live in.

Year 3 spent time thinking about the sky and its beauty.

Odd socks day in Year 3! We wore odd socks to mark anti-bullying week.

Today, as part of our Christmas celebrations, KABS provided us with a range of activities. We had an inflatable obstacle course, made smores and even had a visit from Father Christmas!

Science day in Year 3! This year, we celebrated World Science Day by exploring magnets. We investigated how magnets work and tested different objects around our classroom to see which materials were magnetic and which were not. It was exciting to discover that some items, like paperclips, were attracted to magnets, while others, like plastic and wood were not. This hands-on activity helped us learn more about materials and made science fun and interesting.

Trumpet lessons in Year 3.

Year 3- The Trinity

We used religious words to describe the Christian belief in the Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We discussed that Christians believe in one God who is three people. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. We used drama to show, Father (Creating the world stretching arms our wide), Son (Helping, teaching or caring for others) and Holy Spirit (Move like the wind or a flame to show helping people to feel brave and strong).

Year 3- Glory Be

Christians pray to God the father, God the son and God the Holy Spirit. Some special prayers help us remember that God is three in one. We used the Glory be to act out each one to help us to remember. Father (point up to God) Son (Hands out like a cross) Holy Spirit (Wave hands like the wind and make a heart to show God is all around sharing his love).
