Self portraits

In our art lessons we have been working on self portraits. It was a lot of fun and we worked very hard on them!

Local area fieldwork

We took a trip around our local area, we looked at landmarks, discussed places we recognised and have visited. We also stopped at key points and created a meaningful map of what we could see.

Maths party day

Today was a lot of fun! We made playdoh numbers, cheerio towers, shapes with straws and shape monsters!

Remembrance Day

Each class made a poppy to add to our outside Remembrance Day display.

Using tens frames

In maths we used different manipulatives and tens frames to add numbers within 20.

Making number lines

In Year 1 we used blank number lines and cubes to make number lines to 20 accurately.

Money

In year 1 we have been learning about money, we used tens frames to make an amount.

ELF Walk

To raise money for the Wish Upon a Star charity we completed our Elf Walk and brought in our sponsorship money. It was a lot of fun, we had elf hats, we danced, sang and played instruments.

Bonjour!

Bonjour! Year 1 have had a lovely day, we have eaten French treats and learnt some French phrases.

Toys old and new

Year 1 took a trip to the Museum of Liverpool to learn about toys from the past and from the present.

LLP Reading Festival

Year 1 enjoyed our zoom with JARVIS, we enjoyed hearing his story and learning to draw with him. It was very interesting!

Children’s Mental Health Week 2024

Key Stage 1 have been busy for Children’s Mental Health Week by taking part in peer massage, Cosmic yoga, mindfulness colouring and dance.

In Year 1 we designed and created our own sculptures with a focus on Toys.

We used our atlas to firstly identify the four countries that make up the UK. We then used them to locate and identify the four capital cities.

World Book Day 2024

Maths – number patterns

Today we had a challenge in maths, we needed to arrange ourselves into different number patterns, we looked at multiples of 2, 5 and 10.

Free standing structures

Today we used different objects and materials from around our classroom to make free standing bridges that could take the weight of our chosen animal toy.

PSHE

Today we discussed during circle time things we put on our body and how they can make use feel.

Science week

This week we looked at the different seasons and what months are in those seasons. We also did an experiment to how far our germs can spread when we sneeze and cough if we dont cover them up.

Voting on artwork from around the world of when Jesus was born

Today we looked at artwork from many different countries showing when Jesus was born. We spoke about what we liked about each and then moved onto a P4C activity to make our votes. The winning artwork was Egypt and is now up on our class display.

During Parliament week, in our RE lesson we each voted on which artwork from around the world we liked the best. The most popular artwork went up on our display.
