Number 4 hunt around nursery
In maths this week, nursery have been learning about the numeral 4. This morning the children went on a number 4 hunt around the nursery, searching for hidden 4s in the room! We managed to find them all, well done!

We offer morning sessions to 3 – 4 year olds. Nursery starts at 8:45 am, doors are open from 8:40am. Nursery sessions finish at 11:45am.

Every Friday children choose a library book to take home from our nursery library box. Bookbags are provided.
The children have settled into nursery extremely well this half term and have enjoyed lots of activities. Please keep checking our class page as we regularly share all the learning and fun that takes place in nursery via Chatter.

In maths this week, nursery have been learning about the numeral 4. This morning the children went on a number 4 hunt around the nursery, searching for hidden 4s in the room! We managed to find them all, well done!
53Our nursery children are enjoying our winter topic ❄️ Today they discovered our winter animal figures frozen in ice! Using tools, they explored ways to melt it — including a brilliant suggestion from one child to pop them into the warm water tray. Such great problem-solving 👏🧊
56Our younger nursery children enjoyed a listening walk around school today. Wearing their handmade ear headbands, they tuned into the sounds around them – footsteps, chatting voices, and even our busy kitchen staff! What great listening skills.
51Nursery class chose their favourite nursery rhymes to create a class nursery rhyme book. The children love looking at the book and singing the songs together!
52In RE, Nursery children learned about the Wise Men and their journey. They enjoyed dressing up, acting out the story, and creating Magi pictures using shapes.
62Nursery class enjoyed exploring ice outdoors today. The children loved touching and feeling the ice and using it in their play, including making “ice soup.”
50This morning Nursery and Year 6 children took part in a wonderful Advent Trail around the school grounds. Along the way we sang hymns and listened to scripture readings. We ended the trail in Forest School, where we were greeted by Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, Angel Gabriel, the Wise Men and the Shepherds.
193Nursery class did a great job on their number hunt! They managed to find all the number 2s hidden around the nursery. Well done!
57In RE, the children learned about Advent and waiting for Jesus by exploring an Advent calendar. We talked about waiting and trying our best, and began our heart promises — starting with Hope. These are now displayed on our RE wall, with Peace, Joy and Love to come.

259On Wednesday, we all wore odd socks to celebrate how wonderful it is to be different. We listened to the story of Elmer, which helped us talk about uniqueness and why our differences should be valued and celebrated. The children also enjoyed designing their own odd-sock pictures.
260🍂 Nursery class are enjoying their new topic ‘Exploring Autumn’ – We went on a walk around the playground and forest school, collecting autumnal treasures like colourful leaves, sticks, twigs, conkers and acorns. Back in class, we sorted our finds and created a tuff tray to explore further! 🍁
248◦🎇 Bang, pop, fizz! Nursery have been busy making firework paintings using cardboard tubes, colourful paint and glitter.
246This half term in Maths, Nursery have been learning all about colours! We’ve enjoyed going on colour hunts around our nursery and practising sorting objects by colour. Well done, Nursery – great exploring!
293Thank you Year 6 for taking Nursery on a wonderful Harvest trail around our school. It was a lovely morning, we enjoyed singings songs, listening to stories and planting bulbs along the way!
345Nursery class have been thinking about how we can look after God’s wonderful world. We went on a walk around the school grounds, taking time to admire the beauty of God’s creation.
344Y6 took Nursery on a wonderful Harvest trail around our school. We sang, said prayers and gave thanks to God for our Earth and its abundant gifts.
336We threw a special party for Bear’s 4th birthday — we counted out 4 candles for his cake and matched numbers from 1 to 5. In the playdough area, we made our own birthday cakes and added the right number of candles. We also created birthday stickers and cards for Bear, and enjoyed a fantastic story, One to Ten and Back Again.
318Nursery class are very proud of the fantastic models they’ve built using Duplo and Stickle Bricks! The children enjoyed matching the picture cards and using their imaginations to create their own amazing designs.
305In RE, Nursery explored the story of Creation using our special golden box. We started with darkness, then added light, sky, grass, and animals to show how God made the world. A lovely, hands-on way to bring the story to life!
331It has been a pleasure to welcome back our returning nursery children and to greet all the new friends who have recently joined us. We’ve had a wonderful time exploring the indoor environment, and we’re looking forward to lots of fun and learning ahead in nursery.

Nursery class have been focusing on positional language ‘in’ and ‘out’. To help us to remember ‘in and ‘out’ we learnt the song They Hockey Cokey.
627‘Run, run, run, As fast as you can, You can’t catch me, I’m the gingerbread man!’……..We have enjoyed reading the story ‘The Gingerbread Man’ in Nursery class this week. This morning we decorated our own gingerbread biscuits…they were very yummy!
600Nursery class had lots of fun using props to re-tell the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff.
588Nursery class have been observing caterpillars this half term. We waited two weeks for the caterpillars to turn into cocoons (just like The Very Hungry Caterpillar) and this week they transformed to butterflies. We gave the butterflies fruit and sugar before going outside to release them into the lovely sunshine. They were very friendly and we managed to hold some of them!
597Nursery class have been counting and acting out the song Five Little Speckled Frogs. We are practising subitising by saying the number straight away without the need to count.
665Nursery enjoyed learning about farm animals with Farmer Marie and Farmer Phil. The children found out lots of interesting facts and got the opportunity to stroke, hold and feed the animals. It was such a fun morning!
635This morning, Nursery class read the story Mr Wolf’s Pancakes and tasted some delicious pancakes at snack time. We also made funny face pancakes using our sticking and gluing skills. Well done, Nursery. It has been a lovely morning.
642This week in Nursery we have been learning all about winter animals including naming and describing them and finding out where they live. We have also been developing our painting skills by painting snowmen.
612We made snowmen using loose parts in gloop and had fun mark making using ice-cubes.
605We enjoyed using collage materials to decorate lanterns and some of the older children enjoyed watching the Chinese Dragons in the hall.
638We love looking at books and talking about what we can see on the pages. We can hold the books the correct way up and can carefully turn the pages.
622The children in Nursery showed great enthusiasm as they went on a hunt to find numeral 3 cards that were hidden around the room. We have also played number 3 bingo and matched up 3 piece jigsaws. Well done everyone!
614This morning we arrived at nursery to find some of our toys had been frozen. Oh no! We worked together to break the ice to rescue our toys using warm water and plastic tools. Well done, Nursery!
578In R.E Nursery have been learning about the wisemen visiting Jesus. During continuous provision the children decorated their own crowns.
643Nursery class had lots of fun exploring the snow and making a snowman with our friends in Reception Class. After our winter walk we enjoyed a nice cup of hot chocolate.
610Nursery class have enjoyed making sparkly firework paintings and creating beautiful firework patterns using chalk.
72Nursery class found lots of autumn treasures on their walk yesterday morning. We found conkers, acorns, sticks and lots of different coloured and sized leaves.
614For maths party day Nursery class took part in a fun outdoor maths lesson. We collected twigs and leaves and matched them to numerals up to 5.
69It has been lovely welcoming our children back to Nursery. The children have had lots of fun this morning exploring the indoor and outdoor environment and playing with all of their friends. We are looking forward to meeting our new Nursery friends on Monday.

As part of our Big Wide World topic we worked together to create our own sailing boat. We can’t wait to use it to travel around the world. Land Ahoy!!

As part of our Whole School Road Safety Week, each class went on a Road Safety Walk around our local area to raise awareness in our community and share some important road safety messages.

Nursery and Reception had lots of fun taking part in the daily mile. We completed three laps of jogging, walking and jumping. It was tiring but very fun. We are looking forward to doing it all again tomorrow!
676Nursery class enjoyed tasting lots of delicious fruits this morning including strawberries, grapes, apples and blueberries. The most popular fruit in nursery is strawberries! Yum yum!
672This morning in Nursery we said goodbye to our butterflies. We have thoroughly enjoyed watching them grow from tiny hungry caterpillars to beautiful butterflies. We managed to hold one of the butterflies before it flew away. What an exciting morning!
77This week in PE we explored different ways of travelling across benches. We also practised how to jump off and land safely.


In today’s music lesson we all took turns to play our instruments to accompany the song ‘Musical Parade’.

In Nursery we are learning about the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is our friend and looks after us. We took streamers and bubbles outside to demonstrate the Holy Spirit is a feeling, like the wind, we can’t see it, but we know it is there.
182In Nursery class we have some caterpillars. We are very excited to watch the caterpillars grow into butterflies!
67Nursery class are enjoying our new topic ‘Once Upon a Time’. We had lots of fun learning and singing the song ‘There Was a Princess Long Ago’.

Science Week: Nursery Class had lots of fun exploring shadows using animal puppets, a white sheet and torches. When we have some sunshine we are going to see if we can find our own shadows!
89We made some beautiful cards and chocolate strawberry crispy cakes to take home for our Mummy’s.

Instead of throwing away the daffodils from our observational drawings we took them outside and took a close look inside the flowers and stems using our magnifying glasses and tweezers.

Nursery Class had lots of fun joining in with World Book Day celebrations.
93This half term our topic is ‘Sunshine and Sunflowers’. We sequenced cards showing the life cycle of a sunflower and planted our own sunflower seeds. We are very excited to see them starting to grow.
67In Reception class we went on a Spring walk and used our senses to investigate signs of Spring around us.


Nursery class had an exciting morning. We helped Farmer Gregg and Farmer Marie feed the animals their breakfast. We also stroked the animals and some children felt brave enough to hold a rat. Well done everyone.
We listened to some traditional Chinese music and expressed ourselves by matching the flow of music with our ribbons.

We chose different sounds and instruments for the different icy pictures, such as smooth soft sounds for shiny ice, twinkly sounds for glittery ice and dripping sounds for the icicles.

Nursery enjoyed making red play-dough. We measured out the ingredients and mixed it all in a large bowl. To make the play-dough we used flour, salt, oil, food colouring and cream of tar tar. We took it in turns to help pour and mix the Ingredients.
144We had lots of fun playing in the snow. We made a snowman and lots of footprints!
65Nursery Class have had a lovely morning taking part in activities for French Day. We looked at the colours of the French flag and coloured in our own French flag. We listened to Nursery Rhymes in French and tasted yummy croissants and brioche buns. What a busy morning!

Nursery have been enjoying taking part in autumn activities. The children finger painted autumn trees and created leaf print paintings. ?
106EYFS enjoyed using the sticks and leaves to make a fire. They enjoyed marshmallows and hot chocolate too!
757EYFS had a busy morning collecting sticks and twigs in the woods. We are going to use them to make a bonfire. We are very excited.
Nursery class enjoyed going on a walk in the woods to collect autumnal objects. We found lots of different coloured leaves, conkers, sticks and acorns. On our walk through the woods we could hear birds tweeting and could see birds nests. It was an exciting morning.
