Supporting Families in Growing Together in Faith

At St Clare’s Catholic Primary School, we believe that the home is the first school of faith, and that families play a vital role in helping children live out Gospel values each day. We work in partnership with parents and carers to support spiritual growth, prayer life, and Catholic values at home.

🌿 Simple Ways to Live the Faith at Home

Daily Prayer

  • Begin or end the day with a short prayer or moment of reflection.
  • Pray together before meals or bedtime.
  • Use traditional Catholic prayers such as the Our Father, Hail Mary, or create your own family prayer.

Scripture at Home

  • Read a short Bible passage together as a family – perhaps the Sunday Gospel.
  • Use a children’s Bible to make stories more accessible.
  • Talk about how these stories can be lived out in everyday life.

Living the Liturgical Year

  • Celebrate feast days at home with crafts, themed meals, or family liturgies.
  • Display a liturgical calendar or seasonal symbols (e.g. Advent wreath, Easter candle).
  • Attend Mass together regularly, especially on Holy Days of Obligation.

Acts of Kindness and Service

  • Encourage acts of service and kindness in your community or extended family.
  • Take part in school charity work or parish fundraising together.
  • Practice forgiveness and reconciliation within the family.

Faith-Filled Conversations

  • Talk about God and faith naturally, like you would talk about school or hobbies.
  • Encourage your child to ask questions about faith and explore answers together.
  • Share your own faith journey and how prayer or Mass has helped you.

Use of Resources

  • Read the St Clare’s RE Newsletter for ideas linked to what your child is learning in school.
  • Explore Catholic websites together (e.g. CAFOD, Ten Ten, Bible Society).
  • Listen to worship music or Catholic children’s podcasts as a family.

We are here to support you on your journey of faith as a family. If you would like any help or ideas for prayer, liturgies or celebrating the sacraments at home, please speak to your child’s teacher or contact our RE Lead.

Let us walk together in faith, love and hope – both in school and at home.
