Autumn Term – Aspire Day

Theme: “Let Your Light Shine”
Core Value: Aspire
CST Link: Dignity of the Human Person and Rights and Responsibilities

Purpose:

To encourage children to dream big, celebrate their talents, and understand their responsibility to grow into the person God calls them to be.

Key Activities:

  • Aspirations Tree: Pupils write or draw their hopes and dreams and hang them on an “Aspire Tree” displayed in the hall.
  • Career Carousel or Guest Visitors: Invite parents and community members of different jobs to talk about their careers (police officers, nurses, musicians, etc.).
  • ‘You Are Wonderfully Made’ Reflections: Based on Psalm 139:14 – pupils create self-portraits with affirmations about their gifts and goals.
  • Mini-Enterprise or Talent Showcase: Each class presents a project or performance to celebrate their learning and creativity.
  • Prayer Focus: Children write prayers asking God to guide their aspirations and help them use their gifts to serve others.

Spring Term – Faith Day

Theme: “Many Faiths, One Family”
Core Value: Faith
CST Link: Solidarity and Call to Family, Community and Participation

Purpose:

To deepen understanding of Catholic faith while celebrating and learning about the other faiths represented in your diverse school community.

Key Activities:

  • Faith Around the World: Each class explores a different world religion (e.g. Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism) and creates displays/artifacts.
  • Catholic Liturgy or Collective Worship: Focused on shared values such as love, kindness, and community.
  • Family Faith Wall: Pupils bring in photos or symbols of what faith means to their family – displayed together to reflect unity in diversity.
  • Faith in Action Stations: Explore ways faith calls us to act (e.g. caring for the Earth, feeding the hungry, helping others). Tie in CAFOD or local foodbank work.
  • Scripture & Story Circles: Use parables or sacred stories across faiths that teach respect, hope, and compassion.

Summer Term – Respect Day (linked with Transition Day)

Theme: “We Belong to Each Other”
Core Value: Respect
CST Link: Option for the Poor and Vulnerable and Care for Creation

Purpose:

To celebrate respectful relationships, teamwork, kindness, and readiness to grow and support one another – especially as children move up year groups.

Key Activities:

  • Transition Buddies: Older pupils write welcome notes or books for children moving into their class/year group.
  • Peace Pledges: Each class writes a Respect Promise Charter and signs it.
  • Eco Stewardship Challenge: Classes take part in activities to care for the school grounds or local area – linking to Laudato Si.
  • Rights Respecting Schools Charter Revisit: Children revisit or create class charters based on rights and responsibilities.
  • Whole School Respect Relay: Each class passes a “Respect Baton” with a message of kindness and encouragement to the next class.
  • Prayer & Reflection: Thanking God for the year past and asking for courage and respect in the year ahead.
