Do You wanna build a snowman?
Year 4 having fun in the snow, for some children it was their first time experiencing making snowmen.








Clay sculptures
We used the bust of Nefertiti as a stimulus for creating our own busts from clay.
66Photo Frames
We studied how photo frames were constructed and used our knowledge of struts and braces to design our own photo frames.
110Author visit
As part of the Liverpool Learning partnership event, Year 4 had a virtual visit from Liverpool author Natalie Denny. She talked to us about her first book and what inspired her to become a writer.
75The Great Kapok Tree
We took part in a conscience alley activity trying to influence the woodcutter in the story.
63A sense of place
As part of of Geography Field work studies, we looked at landmarks in our local area and sketched the Gurdwara near us.
65Ukulele
We enjoy our ukulele sessions with Mr Storey from the Music service, learning notes, chords and songs.
61Living things
We sorted animals into a criteria we decided, then we learned that each animal is classified according to its characteristics.
58Electricity
Year 4 investigated which materials conducted electricity and made the bulb light. We discovered that metal is a good conductor, but plastic, paper, wood and fabric are not.
58Cash 4 kids
Year 4 took part in a sponsored walk to raise money for our local charity ‘Cash 4 kids’ who help children in our local area. We’ll done Year 4
409Changing Sound
Year 4 investigated how sound was made using tuning forks, water elastic bands and rice on a drum! They discovered that sound is caused by an object vibrating.
390Health and fitness week
Year 4 began the day with walking a mile around the school. It set us up well for the beginning of our Health and fitness week.
383Supermover spelling
As part of our daily spelling lesson, we use “Supermovers”. It’s a fun way to learn spelling rules and exercise at the same time. Year 4 love it!
396Delicious dips
As part of Health and Fitness week Year 4 created their own flavour of humous by adding different ingredients. They chopped a variety of vegetables and used them for dipping. Not a dish was .left!
347Making sense of money
Year 4 had a visit from My bnk today showing us different bank accounts and what to use to buy goods. Are you a spender or a saver?
395Music Concert
Today Year 3 and 4 took part in a music concert, they showed their talents playing the ukele and the trumpets.
371A virtual tour of Paris
As part of our geography about a locality study within Europe, year 4 took a virtual tour of Paris, using an on-line digital map. ‘We ‘visited’ all the major tourist attractions and worked out the best route to match our itinerary.
408Sports day!
At long last the weather held out and we had our school sports day. The children took part in running race, egg and spoon race and a sack race. They all had a fabulous time, with the parents cheering them on all the way. Photographs courtsey of 2 of our Year 4 pupils. The next David Bailey.
362Food For Thought
Year 4 enjoyed a session with Food for Thought. They made vegetable stir fry with noodles, chopping, cooking, mixing and of course eating their incredible dishes. They really enjoyed learning about how to cook safely and how to make a balanced dish
416Home made digestive system
year 4 used a variety of readily available resources to create a simulation of what happens in the digestive system. It was very messy!
391Busy First Week
Year 4 have had a busy first week, we developed our own class charter, we picked articles from the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child that we thought we needed in our class. We created pictures of a famous Liverpool landmark using a variety of techniques (can you guess where it is?), consolidated our knowledge of 4-digit numbers using manipulatives, learned what partitive nouns are and found out that ‘Being different is the best thing ever!’ What a week!
358We are historians
Year 4 became historians today when they used a variety of sources to research Ancient Civilisations.
336Classification
Year 4 worked together to find out the characteristics of the different vertebrate groups
323Museum trip
Year 4 went to the World Museum Liverpool to take part in an Ancient Egyptian workshop, we got the chance to look around the Egyptian display and handle some real artefacts
364Maths fun
Year 4 had lots of fun learning maths today, we played times table hopscotch, took part in Supermover maths sessions and played class tournaments on TT Rocktars. Who knew maths could be fun!
343Basketball skills
Year 4 began their unit of basketball by practising their dribbling skills. Have you tried dribbling backwards!
338What, no pens!
Year 4 did not pick up a pen today! All learning was done through debate, performance poetry, computing and science investigation. Who says you have to write everything down.
313What makes a good setting description
During English, we analysed extracts from ‘The Girl of Ink and Stars’, identifying what language features make a good setting description.
322Hockey
Year 4 have been learning to dribble and push pass in hockey this week, not as easy as it sounds.
323Jubilee Year Launch
Today we had a visit from Jackie from CAFOD. She came to tell us all about this year’s Big Lent Walk fundraising event – buying ‘glitter chickens’ for villages in Kenya and to hold workshops for years 2 and 4, learning about the Jubile Year of Hope.
335Matball
Today we had an inter-house matball competition, led by a member of the LSSP. We had a great time and at the same time learned lots of new skills. Scotland came out the overall winners.
322Mary’s meal
Today we had an assembly and workshop with Anna from Mary’s Meals. We learnt how the charity started and how it is feeding over 2 million children a day in other parts of the world for only 10p per day! It only cost £19.15 to feed a child 1 meal per day for a year.
379Having fun, keeping fit
we are certainly enjoying our new PE unit ‘keeping fit’. How many times can you accurately catch a bean bag in 1 minute?

School Mission Day
Year 4 revisted the school mission today, we read how Matthew spoke about letting you light shine for the world and talked about what it meant. We then wrote acrostic poems based on our core values of Faith, Aspire and Respect. We then draw candles and wrote how we could let our light shine at school and at home.
199Jubilee Year-Pilgrims of Hope
Today, Year 4 took a pilgrimage through our school, we took rubbing of bark and leaves we had collected as part of our Jubilee pledge day. We all wrote pledges, saying how we cook be Pilgrims of Hope in our school, using Catholic Social Teaching. We also created a 3-d representation of the Jubilee logo #Jubilee
234Our blessings
As part of the Creation and Covenant branch, we studied the work of Hannah Dunnett, a Christian artist who uses simple images and words of scripture. We created our own versions and included our own blessings and pieces of scripture.
143Year 4 visit to church
On Wednesday, Year 4 visited our Parish church of St Clare’s. One of the parishioners, Cathy, showed us around and described the special areas of the church. She also showed us where the first 2 Sacraments of Baptism and First Holy Communion take place.
117‘I am a link in a chain…’
Year 4 studied the life and work of St John Henry Newman, we found out that he recognised that God had a mission for him and that we too had a mission. He wrote about this in ‘Hope in God – Creator’, we chose the parts that spoke to us and created our our chain.
5Meet a Judge Visit
Members of Junior leadership team, School Council & Rights Respecting ambassadors attended a visit to the Liverpool Civil and Family Court to take part in a mock robbery trail. They were all given roles to play and even took part in a question and answer session with 3 serving judges from the Crown, Family and Employment courts.

The story of Abraham and the 3 strangers
Year 4 dramatised the story of Abraham at Mamre and how 3 strangers visited him. We used the photos to retell the story and how Abraham and Sarah were feeling.
7Maths party day
We celebrated maths today by putting on our party clothes, designing and making maths themed hats, danced along to supermovers to help learn our times tables, played maths games and priced up how much it would cost to decorate for a party. Who knows ew maths could be such fun!
16Creation and Covenant
As we complete our first branch of our new RE curriculum, we reflected on all we have learned about Abraham and his covenant with God.
