Liverpool Schools Parliament

Today we were privileged to be invited to take part in Liverpool Schools Parliament at the magnificent Liverpool Town Hall. Representatives from our Rights Respecting and Eco Council had the opportunity to meet our Lord Mayor and take part in a series of debates focusing on environmental issues in our schools. We came away feeling truly inspired with how we can really make a difference and look forward to adressing some of these initiatives in school right away.

Today we had a very informative visit from Noor (Asylum Link Merseyside) who delivered a whole school assembly and class workshops to teach us about what means to be a refuge or asylum seeker aswell as the fabulous work they do to support families in Liverpool.

Fairtrade Fortnight

Our new Eco Council have had a busy first half term organising Fairtrade Fortnight. They delivered a whole school assembly on current Fairtrade issues & organised fundraising by selling raffles tickets for our annual Fairtrade hamper. The money raised will support global Fairtrade initiatives to ensure farmers get a fair deal for their goods.

Mary’s Meals

Today we ate some delicious porridge and made a donation to raise money for Mary’s Meals. We learned how this charity provides children across the world with a warm nutritious mug of porridge each school day to help them stay healthy and increase their ability to learn and grow.

Meet a Judge Visit

Members of Junior leadership team, School Council & Rights Respecting ambassadors attended a visit to the Liverpool Civil and Family Court to take part in a mock robbery trail. They were all given roles to play and even took part in a question and answer session with 3 serving judges from the Crown, Family and Employment courts.

A visit from our PCSO

Our local PCSO came to visit Y5 and Y6 to talk about how we should behave in our community for the Common Good. We covered topics such as antisocial behavior and firework safety.
