Exploring programmable toys.
We gave our BEEBOTs the correct instructions using positional language to direct them to specific places on our map.

In Year 6 we have been using bead strings and counters to help us understand the place value of numbers up to 10 million.
97We love using Learning by Questions in Year 6 to consolidate our mathematical knowledge and practise our basic skills!
90Today was a lot of fun! We made playdoh numbers, cheerio towers, shapes with straws and shape monsters!
179In maths we used different manipulatives and tens frames to add numbers within 20.
142In Year 6 we have been learning about linear number sequences. We used lots of different equipment to help us represent our sequences. We spotted lots of patterns!
87In Year 1 we used blank number lines and cubes to make number lines to 20 accurately.
148Year 6 have been learning all about algebra! They worked really hard to solve equations and mathematical problems with unknown variables using equipment.
86Y6 are making great progress in their booster sessions. It has been lovely to see so many children coming in each day! Well done!
61Y6 have been using Cuisenaire rods to create shapes with the same area but greater and smaller perimeters. We realised that the more exposed side lengths a shape has; the larger the perimeter!
57Today we had a challenge in maths, we needed to arrange ourselves into different number patterns, we looked at multiples of 2, 5 and 10.
148Today we completed a practical activity using bread to find half of shapes.
149Year 5 carried out a number of triangle investigations. There was a prize for the winning team.
334Year 5 created different 3D shapes from cubes to hexagon prisms and cones. Great effort from all the children.
356Year 4 have had a busy first week, we developed our own class charter, we picked articles from the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child that we thought we needed in our class. We created pictures of a famous Liverpool landmark using a variety of techniques (can you guess where it is?), consolidated our knowledge of 4-digit numbers using manipulatives, learned what partitive nouns are and found out that ‘Being different is the best thing ever!’ What a week!
358Year 6 have been working really hard to secure their place value knowledge to 10 million!
50For maths party day Nursery class took part in a fun outdoor maths lesson. We collected twigs and leaves and matched them to numerals up to 5.
45Y6 explored three ways to measure a tree. We discussed different methods and used mathematical equipment and perspective to help us to estimate the height of the trees.
351Year 4 had lots of fun learning maths today, we played times table hopscotch, took part in Supermover maths sessions and played class tournaments on TT Rocktars. Who knew maths could be fun!
343Maths was lots of fun today in year 5, we took part in a maths lesson outside, creating symmetrical shapes and took part in lots of TT Rockstars tournaments.
338For Maths day in Year 3, we worked in small groups and one child was blindfolded, the child who was blindfolded was challenged to create a variety of 2D shapes from squares to pentagons, using rope. This was a new challenge but we worked so well in our groups and managed to make lots of different 2D shapes. Well done Year 3!

We have really enjoyed our maths sessions this week! We have done some measuring, BIDMAS and balancing equations – what a busy week!
341In Y6 we used Numicon, Cuisinairre rods and multilink cubes to explore number sequences. We learned about ‘term to term’ rules and the ‘n th term’.
355Y6 have worked incredibly hard to master algebra this week. They really enjoyed getting stuck in with a ‘Bipods and Tripods’ problem. They used a range of equipment to help them work in a systematic way. Keep it up Y6!
339The children in Nursery showed great enthusiasm as they went on a hunt to find numeral 3 cards that were hidden around the room. We have also played number 3 bingo and matched up 3 piece jigsaws. Well done everyone!
334Year 5 created rectilinear shapes using cuisenaire rods. They had to calculate the perimeter of those shapes.
355Nursery class have been counting and acting out the song Five Little Speckled Frogs. We are practising subitising by saying the number straight away without the need to count.
389Nursery class have been focusing on positional language ‘in’ and ‘out’. To help us to remember ‘in and ‘out’ we learnt the song They Hockey Cokey.
341A day filled with maths games, designing party hat’s with numbers and collecting data on the IPADS.
16In year 1 we created invitations to invite all the other classes to the maths party day assembly
13We had a fun filled maths party day in Reception Class today; including making maths party hats, playing maths games and singing interactive number songs. We then laid out enough plates, cups and biscuits for each group of ten and used number bonds to help us.

Y6 loved the 10th Anniversary of Maths Party Day! They planned a 10th birthday party; made maths themed party hats and played maths board games with their friends.
17We threw a special party for Bear’s 4th birthday — we counted out 4 candles for his cake and matched numbers from 1 to 5. In the playdough area, we made our own birthday cakes and added the right number of candles. We also created birthday stickers and cards for Bear, and enjoyed a fantastic story, One to Ten and Back Again.
30We celebrated maths today by putting on our party clothes, designing and making maths themed hats, danced along to supermovers to help learn our times tables, played maths games and priced up how much it would cost to decorate for a party. Who knows ew maths could be such fun!
16Y6 spent time in Reception today meeting their new buddies. They read maths stories and learned lots about each other. They’re already asking when the next meet up will be!
16Year 5 had a wonderful maths party day. They took on a number of very creative maths tasks.
10Year 5 enjoyed playing magnetic darts during wet play and it involved a fair amount of addition calculations.
11This half term in Maths, Nursery have been learning all about colours! We’ve enjoyed going on colour hunts around our nursery and practising sorting objects by colour. Well done, Nursery – great exploring!
12Today Y6 worked in pairs to remember how to multiply two 2 digit numbers from Y5. They then applied this knowledge to multiply a 4 digit number by a 2 digit number.
