Fair Trade fortnight

We have been learning about the importance of giving farmers a fair price for their produce, such as coffee, cocoa and bananas. The fair trade symbol lets us know that farmers have been given a fair price, look for this symbol when shopping. Catholic Social Teaching about Solidarity teaches us that by using these products we are standing together as one with our global family.

At the end of our Fair trade fortnight, we had a raffle to win a hamper filled with Frair Trade goodies. As you can see the children were very pleased with their prizes.

Pre Loved Uniform Sale

This week the School Council and Eco Council worked together to plan and deliver a pre loved uniform sale. It was a great success and very well supported by our school community, raising much needed funds which will allow us to continue our projects next school year. Thank you to everyone who supported us!

Reception camping trip to the forest!

We had such a fun morning having a full camping experience in the forest. We sang songs and toasted marshmallows by the fire, built dens, enjoyed camping themed stories in the barn and even tested out the sleeping bags!

Liverpool Schools Parliament

Today we were privileged to be invited to take part in Liverpool Schools Parliament at the magnificent Liverpool Town Hall. Representatives from our Rights Respecting and Eco Council had the opportunity to meet our Lord Mayor and take part in a series of debates focusing on environmental issues in our schools. We came away feeling truly inspired with how we can really make a difference and look forward to adressing some of these initiatives in school right away.

Fairtrade Fortnight

Our new Eco Council have had a busy first half term organising Fairtrade Fortnight. They delivered a whole school assembly on current Fairtrade issues & organised fundraising by selling raffles tickets for our annual Fairtrade hamper. The money raised will support global Fairtrade initiatives to ensure farmers get a fair deal for their goods.

Doing an act of service for others

Y6 have been learning about Sikhism this week. They discovered that Sikh people do acts of service called Sewa. Y6 chose to do a litter pick, inspired by our eco councillors, to serve our school community. We reflected on how our act of service made us feel and the people we served through our actions.

Sikh people care for our world

In Y6 we learned that Sikh people are called to serve the planet by not wasting resources. We made links to the Catholic Social Teaching Value of stewardship of God’s creation. We put posters up around school to encourage members of our school community to not waste water, electricity and food.
